On April 3, 2021, Marina, the owner of YouTube channel The Piano Keys, posted a tutorial in which she explained a common mistake beginners make when playing Moonlight, Beethoven's renowned sonata. Although the composer died in 1827 and therefore the piece could be used without authorization or remuneration to a third party, shortly after uploading the video she was notified that she had been demonetized for using the melody of Wicca Moonlight, a song by Alice Violet Molland inspired by Beethoven's sonata.
Marina appealed the demonetization, convinced that she would be granted the demonetization. However, the platform upheld the decision. Frustrated, she published a video explaining her case and announcing her withdrawal from YouTube.
According to what he said at the time, the company behind the claim was engaged in fraudulently pursuing copyright infringement. Her complaint was shared by one of her followers on Reddit and raised a wave of solidarity. Marina posted a second video spearheading a movement of creators facing similar problems to hers and after this new complaint she was contacted by YouTube.
After receiving the support of hundreds of users, and having been heard by the platform, she announced in a third video that the sanction applied at first would be lifted. To celebrate the decision, he summoned internet artists to perform together in a "mega performance" interpreting Claro de Luna.
