In November 2018, youtuber Luisito Comunica received a copyright claim from CNN Chile, where he was accused of having used material from the network in two videos that recorded his trips to Peru and Turkey. The notice did not ask the youtuber to remove the content, but announced two possible scenarios: CNN Chile would receive the earnings from the ads or would have access to the statistics of those videos.

The disputed fragments had been recorded by the youtuber himself. In the first one, he himself appeared talking to the camera, while in the second one, balloons were shown flying over a Turkish city. As he showed in the video in which he presented his case, the monetization of these videos has been ostensibly reduced since the date on which the network filed the claim.

A few weeks before the claim, Luisito Comunica had given an interview to CNN Chile and during the broadcast those fragments were shown, which the network later claimed as its own content.

Upon understanding the situation, the youtuber uploaded a video in which he criticized the network and the platform. "It's the only thing to do in these cases, complain and raise your voice," he said in that publication, which to date has accumulated more than 12 million views. A few hours later, CNN Chile apologized and announced that it had withdrawn the complaint.
