In January 2019, gamers Kenzo and ObbyRaidz (now known on networks as Gankerino), received copyright claims from a person calling himself VengefulFlame, for which their channels received two strikes.
Shortly thereafter, ObbyRaidz received a message demanding payment of $150 or $75 in bitcoin in exchange for not making a third claim that would ultimately disable his channel. Kenzo, on the other hand, was asked for $300. Apparently, this was a form of extortion.
Both Kenzo and ObbyRaidz took to Twitter to state their cases. TeamYoutube thanked them for reporting the extortion, announced that the complainant's account had been deleted, removed the strikes and re-enabled the videos.
A few months later the matter escalated to court. YouTube discovered that the person behind the fraudulent claims was Christopher Brady and had been extorting money from other gamers for a long time. In its lawsuit, YouTube demanded compensation and measures to prevent fraudulent claims in the future.
