In March 2021, the Salvadoran organization Agrupación Ciudadana por la Despenalización del Aborto launched two Twitter campaigns. The first one compiled stories of women who have advanced the struggle for women's sexual and reproductive rights in Latin America and consisted of a video accompanied by the hashtag #HistoriasQueNosCambian. The second was driven by the hashtag #ManuelaJusticiaYEsperanza, and dealt with the case of a woman who was imprisoned for the involuntary loss of a pregnancy. The cases that both campaigns recalled had been presented before the Inter-American Human Rights System.

On March 10, members of several organizations posted campaign material and hashtags. That same day, Twitter notified four people working for the organizations Bridges-Puentes, and Human Rights Watch, that their accounts had been blocked for posting multimedia content depicting violence or sexual abuse. To regain access to their accounts, the platform required them to remove the content.

Some of these people appealed the decision, but did not receive a ticket or a tracking number. They managed to communicate directly with Twitter's Policy team, who informed them that the issue had been resolved. However, on March 18 one of them posted the video again, this time without the hashtags, and again her account was blocked. Once again she contacted the Policy team, who said the case would be passed on to the appropriate team. The following day, she received a response from Twitter saying that, having reviewed her account, it had been decided that it was not in breach of the Twitter Rules.
