In October 2020, Apostate Prophet, a creator of satirical and critical content about Islam, received death threats against him and his wife via email. That same day, he posted on Twitter a screenshot of the message along with a text that read: "Receiving again messages of love from Mohammed Hijab's followers", in reference to a disseminator of Islam with whom he had already had several controversies on that social network.

Shortly thereafter, Twitter informed him that the post violated its rules on abusive behavior. As a sanction, he would not be able to use several of Twitter's functions for 12 hours from the time he deleted the tweet.

The user appealed the sanction, explaining that it was in fact he who had received a threat. Soon after, Twitter lifted the restriction, but still demanded that he remove the content.

Apostate Prophet was unwilling to accept that reporting a threat against him could be taken as abusive behavior, so he appealed again. For three days he received no response. He was insisted that, while his appeal was being reviewed, he would not have access to his account unless he decided to delete the tweet. To date, his Twitter account is suspended.
